Multimedia Journalist
Hi there! My name is Azlyn Cato, and I am a multimedia journalist with a knack for writing and storytelling. I am currently a senior at the University of Central Florida, specializing in print and digital news. Graduating in May 2026, I'm excited to bring my creativity, curiosity, and dedication to every story I tell.
Right now, I serve as an editorial intern for Orlando Weekly, a staff writer for Centric, UCF's student-produced magazine, as well as a reporter for The Charge, UCF's digital student newspaper. I am also active in the National Association of Black Journalists and UCF's nationally recognized Society of Professional Journalists.
As a journalist, my goal is to uncover voices that want to be heard and share stories that need to be told. I’m deeply passionate about photjournalism and investigative reporting, and I’m driven to uncover a wide range of stories that inform, inspire, and connect communities.
"Skepticism, not objectivity, is what makes journalism matter." - Ivor Shapiro
"It's rare to come across talent that Azlyn holds. I had the pleasure of working with Azlyn as her Editor-in-Chief for The Charge during the fall of 2024. She demonstrated such strengths in writing and covered stories that made impact at the University of Central Florida. I was particularly impressed by Azlyn's ability to understand AP Style as a beginner journalist. Any news organization would be grateful to have Azlyn on staff. I know I was!
